Mayo County Library opened this library in the centre of Ballina in 2006. Located on Pearse Street the library comprises over 1,000 sq. metres of lending space. The library is located in the former Moy Hotel in a building which can be traced back to 1798 when a British Garrison was stationed there. The building became a hotel in 1868. In the 1880’s Charles Stewart Parnell stayed here and gave a speech from the balcony which is still intact today. It is also believed that Michael Davitt stayed in the hotel. The building has been carefully preserved and the front façade of the building has been meticulously restored.

The library has a 40,000 book stock and also has a large music library. There are twenty computers for public assess to the internet and other programmes.
